Decades of Farmland Investing
Cottonwood invests in farmland across the United States, focused on delivering positive long-term outcomes for our lessees, clients, and the land. Our commitment is rooted in trusted relationships, operational excellence, and responsible land stewardship.
Responsible Stewardship
We believe that ensuring the long-term sustainability of the farmland we manage is essential to the long-term success of our lessees and clients. Learn about some of the steps we have taken to ensure we leave farmland and communities better than we found them.
We have encouraged biodiversity on our farms by establishing over 150 acres of pollinator habitat, planting over 240 acres of trees to serve as windbreaks and wildlife habitat, and restoring several wetlands by removing invasive plants to allow for a healthier aquatic ecosystem.
We have supported the communities around our farms as well as encouraged the next generation of agricultural stewards by funding scholarships for our employees’ and lessees’ children and grandchildren pursuing an education in agriculture.
We have increased water efficiency and/or reduced runoff by upgrading the technology on over 98% of our pivots, developing advanced irrigation systems on over 45,000 acres, adding tailwater recovery systems on over 20,000 acres, and having tile drainage on over 19,000 acres.
We have reduced emissions by having over 50% of our pumps and pivots utilize electric power, developing fields to allow for row rice production, and supporting lessees in trials of cover crops.
Our Values
We believe our core values keep us grounded in the things that matter while holding us to the highest standards of performance.
